Just as news of Nicolas Ghesquière exit from Louis Vuitton got out, the fashion world was hit by yet another shocker- Peter Copping’s exit from Oscar de la Renta.
A representative of the fashion house said the former creative director’s exit was effective immediately.
“After almost two years at Oscar de la Renta, personal circumstances require me to return to Europe. I have loved my time in New York where I hope to return at some point in the future,” said Copping in a statement.
Copping who was personally selected by De la Renta to succeed him before he passed away in 2014, has a number of well-received collections true to the brands elegant and feminine designs.
Prior to his move to Oscar de la Renta, Copping had served as artsistic director of Nina Ricci for 5 years and before that he worked under Marc Jacobs for 12 years at Louis Vuitton.
No replacement has been announced by the fashion house for now.
“Our team will continue to work on next season’s collection with a keen focus on the level of sophistication and craftsmanship that are the hallmarks of the house,” said CEO Alex Bolen in a statement. “We wish Peter well in his future endeavors.”
