181 Lagos Students & School Staffs Contracts COVID-19, Nigeria’s Infection Toll Exceed 61,000

Coronavirus Cases In Nigeria OnoBello

On Friday October 17, one hundred and eighty-one students and staff of a private boarding school in the Lekki area of Lagos state tested positive for COVID-19.

Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, who confirmed the news, said the infected persons from a private school located in a suburb of Lekki contracted the virus during surveillance and case investigation in the school.

 

The update is followed by a midnight report by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control who noted that the total number of cases recorded that day was 212. Detailing a breadown by states, Lagos has 85 infections along with Oyo – 72, FCT – 21, Ogun – 11, Plateau – 11, Katsina – 6, Kaduna – 5, Osun – 1.

This brought the country’s toll to 61,194. So far, 52,304 cases has been discharged along with 1,119 deaths.
