The X-Squad unit of the Lagos State Police Command has arrested 20 policemen from different divisions in the state over alleged misconduct and corrupt practices.
Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, Fatai Owoseni, who made the disclosure while briefing journalists on the command’s recent achievement, said that the arrest of the policemen which was made in one week, was in furtherance to the Inspector-General of Police’s resolve to ensure that the Force was sanitised and weed out bag eggs.
Within the period under review, Owoseni revealed that five armed robbery suspects were also arrested including a suspected kidnapper. Recovered from them were five vehicles, one of which was snatched yesterday around Magodo area of the state and was at the verge of being sold. Other recoveries included four different kinds of ammunition and charms.
Also, among the suspects paraded by the police at the Command headquarters in Ikeja on Thursday was an accomplice in the murder of a bureau de change operator in Ajah area of Lagos.
During the parade, the police said it also foiled an attempt to kidnap an Indian national, Ajay Bisit, at a construction site in Ajah.
