2014 Ekiti Governorship Election Was Manipulated–Aluko Insists, Denies Truce With Fayose

We’re not exactly sure what is going on between these two!

About two days ago, news broke out that Dr. Tope Aluko, a former Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti state had reconciled with Governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose.

This came months after he made some damning revelations on ChannelsTV about how Fayose rigged the 2014 gubernatorial election in Ekiti.

He reportedly came forward to reconcile with the Governor whom he had earlier claimed was the master planner of the rigging of the state’s election in favor of PDP. According to ChannelsTV, Aluko was caught on camera on Sunday and he gave reasons for the reconciliation.

He said: “This is not about position, this is about peace, this is about misunderstanding, talking together and family and well-meaning Nigerians stepping in.”

On his allegations against the Governor, he insisted what is most important is that they had resolved and were moving on.

Governor Fayose, in his reaction said, “When you’re talking about forgiveness, Aluko remains my boy, my son. Whatever he has said in the public sphere, there is time to move forward beyond that.”

However, fresh reports have it that Dr.Aluko has denied reconciling with Fayose.

According to The Will, the former PDP Secretary yesterday, told newsmen in Lagos that the parley was a script aimed at misinforming Nigerians and an organised propaganda to stain his image and malign his integrity.

He explained that he was invited by the PDP, Ekiti state to a meeting at Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos, and he attended with his wife, only for Fayose to storm the place.

“One fact remains clear, there is nowhere that I, TemitopeAluko, refuted anything I have earlier said before Nigerians and the whole world about the manipulations that characterised the 2014 Governorship election in Ekiti State,” he said.

“I was shocked to see Governor Fayose walked into the meeting at this point. I won’t want to bore you with the drama and face-off that ensue between me and governor Fayose inside the meeting.

“It is worthy of note that my wife barged into the meeting to inform me of the presence of pressmen.

“At that point, I became enraged and decided to leave the place, but I noticed Governor Fayose rushing after me downstairs in a gestapo manner.

“My wife was already fidgeting and almost crying and suddenly I could not find her around me. I immediately realised that I need to oblige Governor Fayose’s instruction of the facing the press because of the safety of my family.

“Like I earlier said before Nigerians and the whole world, manipulation characterised the 2014 governorship election in Ekiti state, I still stand by all I said.

“You will also notice the several counter-allegations by Fayose and his media team that none of them has refuted all I have said, rather the attack has been on the messenger and not the message. I will like to apologise to all Nigerians that perhaps, accepting the invitation was a tactical error.

“I will also like you to know that I am dealing with a master fraudster who is always full of mischief. You will all recollect how he announced the purported death of Hon. AfolabiAkanni, and the purported arrest of four members of the Ekiti state house of assembly who later resurfaced.”

A video of the meeting which surfaced earlier, sees Fayose referring to Aluko as his “boy”.

“Aluko remains my boy, my son. I am his father; I am his brother. The past is behind us. Whatever he said in public in the past is gone. It’s time to move on,” he said to newsmen.
