The half point handicap advantage of the KKK proved to be decisive as Halifah Ibrahim final goal of the encounter led a frantic finale in the game that had both sides going neck-to-neck all through the four-chukka match.

Unity had qualified for the preliminary stage after beating Badboys in the playoff but they never looked like a side that came through the back-door as two quick goals in the first chukka was enough to put them in control. Skipper Abdulmumuni Musa added another at the midway of the second chukka but Valkyrie refused to lie low as Bashir Musa opened their goal account via a 40-yard penalty.

Abdulmumuni caused some panic when, early in the third chukka, he fell heavily from his speeding pony but he shrugged off the setback to continue the match to the delight of the large spectators.
