2Baba has criticised the Nigerian government over the proposed regulation of social media, which recently became a widely debated topic between politicians and youths.
The legendary singer — real name Innocent Idibia — has been particularly outspoken during the anti-police brutality protests and shared a video on Saturday of him calling out the irresponsibility of government officials.
According to him, they should have blocked foreign social media apps and safeguarded apps developed by Nigerians, noting that it would’ve been seen as a “true regulation”.
He also pointed out that there are many tech gurus in the country who stopped pushing because they couldn’t compete with foreign apps. 2Baba added that the country would have been the best place for indigenous apps to thrive because of the huge market.
This is not the first time the ‘Gaga Shuffle’ hitmaker has slammed the Nigerian government. Back in June, he condemned their decision to slash the budget of the health and education sectors.
