After spending 17 days in the den of Kidnappers, the wife and daughter of Supreme Court Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour were released on Tuesday.
The wife and daughter of the judge were kidnapped on May 10 along with their driver between Ekiadolor and Okada on the Ore-Benin Expressway while they were travelling to prepare for the daughter’s wedding.
It was said that they were released to Justice Rhodes-Vivour in Benin City at about 11 am. The justice was accompanied to Benin-City by some friends and family to receive his wife and daughter.
It could not be ascertained whether ransom was paid to the kidnappers to secure the release of the victims.
Shortly after their release, the justice and his freed family members flew back to Lagos where the family resides.
The release was confirmed by one of the aides of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Mariam Aloma Muhktar, However, when the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Folunsho A. Adebanjo, was contacted, he said the state command was not aware of the release of the victims.
