Days after landing an exclusive Q&A with GQ South Africa, Davido has bagged another feature in HYPEBEAST France.
The Nigerian superstar sat down with the publication to talk about his latest studio album A Good Time, the international collaborations, how his career has changed over time, plans for the future and more.
See excerpts from the interview below.
On how the album is musically diversified than his previous productions: “I have learned a lot about myself in recent years. But I sing what I have always sung. It’s just something different from what I could do when I started, “
On the album’s positive vibes: “With ‘A Good Time’, I just want to convey my aura, positivity and, above all, happiness to those who listen to me.”
On embracing the responsibility of leading the movement of Afrobeat with an international flavour: “It’s something very big. I have children myself too so I feel the weight of this responsibility all the more. Even if sometimes it’s pretty heavy to have all these people look at you for inspiration. That’s why I always try to bring out the most serious part of me. I owe them”
On the album’s collaborations: “With the people I worked with on the album, it was a real collaboration. We met and created. I see it like that, people coming from two worlds who manage to join on a common ground.”
On what the future holds for the rest of his career: “I just want to continue. I see my career as a movie or a book. But here I am going on a tour around the world. Thanks to happiness, good things will always come out.”
