Former governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu-Sherrif, Monday, faulted an online media report, linking him with the impounded Chad-bound arms-laden aircraft at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano, saying he had nothing to do with the plane.
Senator Ali Modu-Sherrif,
According to reports by TheWill Nigeria, an online newspaper had weekend reported that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain with vast business interest in Chad Republic paid a visit to the Kano airport allegedly to lobby for the release of the aircraft.
But in a statement issued in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, Modu-Sherrif described the report as false and illogical, maintaining that it was sponsored by his political opponents to pull him down.
The statement which was also made available to journalists in the Borno State capital, said: “Some few hours ago, my attention was drawn to a publication by the Premium Times on-line with a caption, “Ex-Borno Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, In Secret Visit To Arms-laden Chad-bound Plane Detained In Nigeria.”
