Anambra Attack: It’s Official – 13 Dead, 22 Injured, Names Of Victims Released


The Catholic Diocese Of Nnewi Has Released The Official Figures And Names Of Dead And Injured Victims Of Sundays Attack On St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Ozubulu, In Anambra State.

In A Statement Issued By Hilary Odili Okeke, Bishop Of The Diocese, The Church Indicated That The Death Toll In The Attack Was 13 While 22 Others Were Injured.

THEWILL Recalls That The Church Was Attacked On Sunday By A Gunman During The Early Morning Mass At About 6:30 Am.

Statements By The Police And The State Governor, Willie Obiano, Indicates That The Attack Was A Fall Out Of A Gang War Between Two Indigenes Of The Community Ruling Out Rumours Of Sectarian Violence Or An Attack By Boko Haram Insurgents.

While Soliciting For Funds For The Care Of The Victims, Okeke Revealed That The Diocese Had Opened A Bank Account In That Regard.

“Anybody, Parish, Institution, Company, Society, Association Or Group That Would Like To Join The Diocese In Providing Assistance To The Victims And Their Families Can Send Their Contributions,” The Statement Read.

“We Shall Keep Accurate Records Of Contribution And Distribution Of The Funds.”

He Listed The 22 Injured Victims Of The Attack Adding That Two Of Them Have Been Discharged While Others Are In Different Wards In The Hospital.
