It was quite a frenzy and lots of fusson the floor of the Senate as the National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Party (APC) and one of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 10 ministerial nominees to be screened today, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, appeared before the Senators.
His emergence sparked off a mild drama, as Senators, especially those from his party began to yell ‘bow and go’ – ‘bow and go.’
According to the Vanguard, Senate President Bukola Saraki asked Lai Mohammed, a nominee from Kwara to introduce himself, and shouts of ‘bow and go’ rented the air.
Senate Leader Ali Ndume moves that Lai Mohammed bows and go but Saraki asked that Senators allow him (Mohammed) to speak.
In his speech, Lai Mohammed said he might have ruffled a few feathers in the course of his duties, but it wasn’t personal. He said it is service to be in the opposition, but a higher service to serve in Government.
