Beyonce’s Breathtaking Looks From The Mandela 100 Global Citizen Festival
Beyoncé knows how to put on an amazing show, and that’s exactly what she did when she gave festival goers the time of their lives at the Global Citizen Festival in Johannesburg on Sunday.
The event, which marked 100 years since Nelson Mandela’s birth, had a star-studded lineup, including Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Usher, D’Banj, Ed Sheeran, and Pharrell Williams, but it’s clear Queen Bey stole the spotlight.
Fans didn’t mind waiting on the star in-between sets, knowing that she would re-appear in yet another amazing outfit. In total, she made 6 outfit changes. Her outfits included a sequined Mary Katrantzou body, thigh-high boots and sweeping cape that was designed to reflect each country in Africa. The bottom was embroidered with a map of the continent’s 54 sovereign states. It perhaps took the crown as the showstopper ensemble of the night. Others included a black and white custom-made Balmain bodysuit with feather detail on the sleeves.
She rocked a yellow Versace bodysuit with signature safety pins made famous by Liz Hurley‘s black dress she wore 20 years ago. The pink Zuhair Murad dress she wore when she performed the duet “Perfect” with Ed Sheeran was also perfection. After making another quick change, Beyonce appeared in a colorful dress by Esteban Cortazar, featuring thousands of African beads and traditional Ndebele neck rings.
One of her look was by South African Design duo, Quiteria and George. This was the only African designer she wore for her performance, and was the closing look for what was a historical show for her and husband, Jay-Z. The look was an Emerald green Swarovski encrusted bodysuit and silk dress with exaggerated sleeves, typical of Beyoncé’s dramatic performance style, which she wore to perform Forever Young.
