iamISIGO started off as a small independent company based in Ghana and Nigeria. Currently based in Paris, iamISIGO seeks to create a striking awareness of how African culture can be fused with an audacious but yet minimal design aesthetic.
For this Blood & Bones collection, the designer BubuOgisi went with a colour story of Burgundy and Beige while fabrics came in pleated satin, crinkled satin, organza, and shredded leather.
The inspiration for this collection is the human body, which is inspired by the concept of exploring and celebrating the human body through a unique combination of colours, style and self examination. Bubu Ogisi was to complete a line inspired by the inner workings of the human body. According to her, “a collection created while I was pregnant, my body went through so many changes. My “blood” and my “bones” were creating another being, my son. My body inspired me to create a collection that reflects my innermost workings.”
The burgundy part of the collection represents a more formal, sultry and sophisticated look, representing the blood. The beige/light brown designs have a rural but feminine look – less formal and sophisticated, more so organic, earthy representing the bone part of the body.
Artistic director and fashion consultant, Bubu Ogisi, established iamISIGO in 2009. Bubu Ogisi has a BSc in Computer Science and an MA in Fashion Business from ESMOD (l'EcoleSupérieure des Arts et techniques de la Mode) Paris.
