Several Borno State residents fled their homes Wednesday evening following an attack by Boko Haram at Jiddari-Polo area, near Maiduguri, the state capital, Daily Post reports.
Videos captured by eyewitnesses on social media show people of different ages trekking and driving inward the city centre, away from the violence.
The fresh battle occurred a few hours after President Muhammadu Buhari left Borno on a sympathy visit where he was booed by residents of the states. Other unconfirmed reports stated that security personnel were summoned to fight the insurgency at the time of the attack.

Barely 12hrs after the condolence visit by president @MBuhari to Maiduguri, BH are currently attacking the immediate outskirts of Maiduguri… We can hear Bomb blasts and gunshots from close range. I did recorded this live 6:33pm 12/02/2020 pic.twitter.com/bqePurI1r1
