Media personalities, Bolanle Olukanni and Toolz have joined other Nigerians including President Buhari’s aide, Bashir Ahmad to react to the recent comments from former Petroleum Resources Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke on internet fraudsters known in local parlance as “Yahoo Yahoo boys.”
Diezani while delivering a lecture at a virtual conference held on Friday, August 7, had condemned fraud, saying that the moral fabric in Nigeria has decayed to the level that Yahoo Yahoo boys have become role models in the society.
Diezani who is currently facing allegations of bribery and money laundering in London and Nigeria highlighted the importance of mentorship for young people, saying only hard work could guarantee success.
This has however, ignited social media backlash towards the ex-politician with many of the opinion that she is not in a place to make such comment as she is currently being tried in various courts for alleged crimes.
See few reactions below.
How do you tell people , how do you tell us young people to work hard and do what is right when bullshit like this is happening!! Like how ??!! The hypocrisy in this country.

No shame at all! Crazy woman.

Who invited Diezani to speak on moral values? Was it an attempt to ridicule her or it’s just a case of sycophancy? Why this is disturbing is, one day she’s going to stand on a podium and offer this advice, and be cheered by the country she once robbed.pic.twitter.com/Kegwucx5GI

In Nigeria, once you have money, you are a role model even without the knowledge of what you do for a living.
Them being “role model” doesn’t mean “we aspire to do yahoo/fraud”. It means we want to have money and flex like them.
Money no dey and Diezani and her kind caused it! https://t.co/T0wRup6UQt

Diezani on Yahoo Boys; great message, so take the message and leave the messenger, since the message ≠ the messenger!

If Diezani Alison-Madueke really wants to pontificate about how the growing acceptance of 'Yahoo Boys' is "a travesty of an unfolding tragedy for us", I'd sincerely like her to fly into Nigeria after the airspace lockdown to say it to us physically.
Do it with your chest, madam.

"‘Yahoo boys’ have become role models in Nigerian society." Diezani Alison-Madueke.
Just glad to see her looking radiant and younger compared to the last photograph published by Alagbafo of Nigeria.
