Former Zimbabwe’s Army commander, General Constantino Chiwenga has been sworn in as the Vice-President of Zimbabwe. Chiwenga led the military takeover that helped end Robert Mugabe’s 37 rule.
Chiwenga, 61, was sworn in as one of the country’s two vice president on Thursday in Harare, where he took his oath of office pledging to “obey, uphold and defend the constitution” of the country.
