President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo have officially been recognised as the first and second citizens of the country for the next four years, after they were sworn in for a second term in office on Wednesday in Abuja
The Oath of Office was administered around 10.15 am by the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Mohammed.
The 2019 presidential inauguration, which held at the Eagle Square, Abuja, was heralded by a colourful military parade which received the service chiefs, CJN, Vice President and President as they arrived.
Soon after the swearing-in, there was the lowering and hoisting of National and Defence flags and 21 gun salutes, Punch Reports.
Afterwards, the president inspected the Guard of Honour and acknowledged cheers from the guests. Buhari and Osinabjo were accompanied to the event by their wives; Aisha Buhari and Dolapo Osinbajo respectively.
Also, dignitaries like Adams Oshiomhole, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Rotimi Amaechi, Bukola Saraki, Godwin Obaseki, Yahaya Bello, Tony Elumelu, Raji Fashola and host of others were in presence.
President Buhari was declared the winner of the February 23 presidential elections on February 27 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after edging his closest opposition, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku.
