Darey is steadily filling the shoes of his father, the legendary African Jazz Musician and entertainer Art Alade. With a unique style of Soul Music and versatility that has seen him churn out hits after hits, it is safe to say Darey is one of the biggest Nigerian Soul Music artiste ever.
Prior to the time Darey came on the scene, Nigerian won’t even listen to R&B, not to mention Soul Music but all that was about to change with the emergence of his first album “From Me 2 U” that featured hit tracks such as “Fuji,” with Ikechukwu, “Escalade,” and more.
As a teenager, he shuttled between Cool FM and the University of Lagos where he obtained a degree in Music. While he presented on Cool FM, he also delved into television presenting African entertainment variety show 'Y'hello.'
At the first ever African edition of the internationally renowned TV series Project Fame where for the first time, Darey showed his musical talents on a wide scale, he emerged third and got a recording deal with Sony BMG Africa.
Dare released his debut Album “From Me 2 U” in 2006 under Storm Records, it was followed with “unDAREYted,” in 2009 under his newly found label Soul Muzik. This album produced the biggest R&B song in Africa that year titled “Not the Girl.” The buzz from his second album caught the attention of the African American Music business legend Dick Griffey, who offered to Executively Produce Darey's third album which was to break Darey further into the U.S and international markets, unfortunately he passed away before the project could be completed.
Darey, undeterred went on to release a double project in 2011 titled “Double Dare” on his Soul Muzik imprint and also signed on new acts to the label including Mo Eazy and Zaina. His recent video with Ice-Prince and South African group Jozi has been enjoying massive airplay and rave reviews.
To round off 2012, he held the massive “Love like a Movie” Concert that saw reality TV star Kim Kardashian coming into the country. He also celebrated six years in marriage with his beloved wife, Deola in the same year. Their family is blessed with two kids.
On May 28th 2013, he released another hit “Special Fever” produced by internationally acclaimed producer, Harmony who is known to have produced international award winning hit songs for Chris Brown, Kelly Rowland, Maroon5, Mary J Blige among many others.
He has won awards including Best Male Video & Best R&B Video for “Not The Girl” in 2009 Channel O Music Video Awards) and Best Use Of Costume for “More” – Nigerian Music Video Awards 2009.
