Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many world-class events are either being postponed, cancelled or held virtually and the latest to be added to the list is Coachella 2020.
After initially being postponed until October, the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival and its country music sibling, Stagecoach have both been officially canceled for this year.
The public health officer of Riverside County, California, Dr. Cameron Kaiser released the cancellation order on Wednesday evening, June 10. Kaiser warned of a possible spike in COVID-19 infections in the coming months.
He also noted that the festivals attract “hundreds of thousands of attendees from many countries,” and that if an outbreak were to occur at Coachella or Stagecoach, it would be “impossible to track those who may be at risk.”
