Golden Globe and Emmy award winning comedian and actor, Aziz Ansari who has been accused of sexual assault by a 23-year-old Brooklyn-based photographer has responded to the allegations saying he believed the encounter to be “completely consensual”.
According to Ansari, he apologized last year when she told him about her discomfort during a sexual encounter in his apartment he said he believed to be consensual.
The woman, identified as a 23-year-old photographer in an interview with Babe.net, says she was furious when she saw Ansari was wearing a “Time’s Up” pin while accepting a Golden Globe award on January 7.
In an interview with Babe, the photographer who identified herself as ‘Grace’ to protect her full identity said that she had met Ansari in an after-party at the 2017 Emmy Awards.
Ansari who had taken the woman’s number asked her out for a date a week after they met. Grace told Babe that she was “excited” for their date but at the end she left crying in an Uber.
According to her, it brought back memories of him assaulting her after a date in his apartment. The next day, the woman texted Ansari letting him know that she was upset with his behaviour that night.
Ansari says he was surprised and apologized.
