A Georgia medical examiner after being granted permission by the law court, revealed the cause of Bobbi Kristina Brown’s death as “Immersion of face in water complicating mixed drug intoxication”, which resulted in pneumonia (from the time she spent submerged in the tub) and encephalopathy – meaning her lungs filled with water and her brain was injured.
However, the Fulton County Medical examiner’s office could not determine if Bobbi’s death was accidental or there was foul play.
The ME’s office listed marijuana, alcohol, a cocaine-related substance called benzoylecgonine, benzodiazepines (prescription anti-anxiety meds) and morphine as the drugs found in her system but could not determine if the morphine was related to heroine use.
Bobbi, who would have turned 23 today’s cause of death is a close replica of how her mother Whitney Houston died in 2012 when she was found dead, face-down in a tub of water. Her death was ruled as accidental drowning, complicated by cocaine use.
The autopsy report which had been sealed earlier because the Fulton County D.A. thought it would interfere with an ongoing criminal investigation into whether her boyfriend Nick Gordon was involved in her death, was unsealed by a judge after Atlanta station WXIA argued its First Amendment rights.
This would no doubt help clear Gordon’s name of the criminal charges to an extent.
However, Bobbi’s father Bobby Brown, expressed displeasure at Friday’s release of his daughter’s autopsy information.
He said, “First and foremost, 23 years ago today, Bobbi Kristina was born. Krissy will always live in my heart and soul,” Bobby Brown said in a statement released by his lawyer. “I love my baby girl.
“For news affiliates to seek and obtain my daughter’s autopsy report, before anyone has been brought to justice for her death is mind-blowing to me. Please pray for my family.”
