Commuters plying the roads of Lagos state have taken to social media to lament the outrageous hike in bus fare since the COVID-19 lockdown was eased.
In a series of complaints shared by many users, they called on the government and the transport unions to find ways to reduce the burden on the common man as many depend on them solely.
They also pointed out the fact that many people are abusing the COVID-19 directives by filling these buses with a lot of passengers which is clearly against the rules.
See few reactions below.
Transport fare in Lagos is so unbearable.

@jidesanwoolu Mr Governor, kindly address the issue of bus fare within Lagos State most especially the blue bus which is managed by LAMATA.

So let's say we wanted to protest a hike in bus fare in Lagos for example. How do we go about it?
Do we boycott the buses and drive our personal cars?
How many people own cars in Lagos.
It's safe to say a large percentage of Lagosians rely on the public transport system.

Lagos BRT bus packed full and fare doubled as @ 3 June 2020, 7.50am.
Is this Not exploitation and pure violation of your own rule.
Why exploit the citizens and yet endanger their lives… pic.twitter.com/45pS1URtqa

Oil pump price is being reduced but bus fare is increased… This is a very wrong time to not own a car in Lagos especially.

The concept of public transportation is lost in Lagos state. Imagine increasing bus fare. Are we saying there is no govt subvention for this company? If yes, you can't call this a public transport.

This morning as I fought for a ride at the bus stop for over an hour amidst the high transport fare and shortage of cars, I was tempted to call my employers and just tell them "I no dey do again".
I was so close. Lagos would test & drain you. Rich or Poor.
