Heels on the Lagos Fashion Week runway, womenswear designer, Cynthia Abila has released her Spring/Summer 2019 collection titled ‘Alydia’.

According to the designer the collection was born after a trip made to the South-South Niger-Delta part of Nigeria in July. “A trip filled with unusual emotions and ungodly awareness, witnessed the most elaborate burial festivities, exaggerated praises, energetic, colorful caskets adorned with ornaments and corals.” she shares.

In doing so she gathered inspiration from the glamorous celebration of the dead. The journey documented through the collection gave rise to the name in which she was the center of the euphoria.

The collection also  reimagines and inspired by life’s vitality and a life well spent. The opulence motivated the aesthetics, colour scheme and fabrication using the krukrubite, a hand woven fabric native to the Niger Delta people of the South- South Nigeria.
