Domestic Staff Kills Employer and Mother Two Days After Employment

22-year-old domestic staff, Joseph Ogbu has allegedly killed his employer, Oreoluwa John, and her mother, Adejoke John, at their residence in Surulere, Lagos state on Thursday.

The Public Relations Officer of the State command, Bala Elkana, said the Surulere Police Station received a distress call at 3am, reporting the murder of Oreoluewa and her mother by a domestic staff.

 According to Bala, Mr. Ogbu allegedly committed the act in the early hours of Thursday, June 19, two days after he was employed and attempted to aid his escape with his employer’s Toyota Camry car and other valuable items.

 The suspect in his defense after police officers on patrol arrested him said that “his employer asked him to clean the house at about 9 p.m. of 19th June but an argument ensued between them, which prompted him to stab her with a knife. The shock of her death made her aged mother to slum and died.”

 The crime scene has been sealed off and the corpses taken to Mainland Hospital, Yaba, for autopsy, the Police Superintendent said.

Police Commissioner for Lagos state, CP Zubairu Muazu mni has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba to take over the investigation and charge the suspect to court.
