You may have heard of the non-profit organization, The ALS Association set up in July to help garner funds for Lou Gehrig’s Disease, otherwise called ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a progressive neurodegenerative disease. It’s also referred to as the motor neurone disease, (MND) or Charcot disease.

Celebrities and influential public figures including talk show host, Oprah Winfrey, CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Microsoft, Bill Gates, movie maker, Tyler Perry, Hollywood stars, Kerry Washington, Gabrielle Union, Kevin hart, Justin Timberlake amongst others.

This is how it works: If you are called upon to take the challenge, you either do so by getting wet with a bucket of ice cold water as you nominate 3 more people to take on the challenge or opt for a donation towards the ALS charity.

Our very own MAVIN Records CEO, Don Jazzy and Dencia (although not called upon) decided to get in. Don Jazzy stands in not only for the aforementioned disease but also for the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease as he called on artistes signed unto his record label: Tiwa Savage, Dr Sid, D’Prince, Korede Bello, Reekado Banks and Di’ja to accept and carry on the challenge within 24 hours. He also added every MAVIN fan and every record label executive in Nigeria.

Dencia on her part got soaked whilst standing atop her Range Rover and nominated more than 3 persons too. Tiwa Savage, Waje, D’banj, Yvonne Nelson, Genevieve Nnaji, 2Face Idibia, Didier Drogba and Wizkid were amongst the people she called on.

Up until now, $10 million has been raised for the challenge.
