#EndSARS: In Lagos Districts, Protests Over Police Violence Lead To Gridlocks

#EndSARS Protests In Ikorodu OnoBello

Demonstrators took to the streets in communities around Lagos state on Friday October 16, to continue protesting against police brutality and extortion.

While the many of them were peacefully staged, the protests has since led to blocked roadways causing major gridlocks.

Videos shared by eye-witnesses show that protests were held at the Lagos State House of Assembly in Alausa, Ikorodu, Gbagada, and even Magboro area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

At Gbagada, the #EndSARS protesters blocked the Gbagada-Oshodi expressway, making it difficult for motorists to commute. Some of the protesters were seen chanting “End SARS, End SWAT” while insisting on a comprehensive reform of the police force.

The protesters shut down the Ikorodu Garage Roundabout. At Ikorodu, the protesters claimed that they feel more secure in their communities with the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad

Also, youths around Lagos-Ibadan Expressway continued their demonstration, casuing a major blockage. Protesters were spotted carrying placards with different inscriptions amid the massive gridlock.
