Entertainment Scoop: Django Unchained And Ted Lead Nominations For MTV Movie Awards 2013, Plus More

The “2013 MTV Movie Awards” is just a month away and Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained and Seth MacFarlane’s Ted seem to be leading the park with 7 nominations each.

Brymo and Waje have been presented with Mentor-Worthy Honorary Award at West Africa’s foremost Music institute, Tenstrings.

Dakore Akande is set to feature in a new movie which will stand as her comeback to Nollywood.

Nollywood actor and Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in the Delta State Government, Richard Mofe Damijo, has denied the reports that he is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over an alleged involvement in a N50 million embezzlement scam.

Django Unchained And Ted Lead Nominations For MTV Movie Awards 2013
The “2013 MTV Movie Awards” honouring the actors and films that have enthralled and electrified audiences this year is just a month away and the nominees list is out!   

Leading the pack with seven (7) nominations each are Quentin Tarantino’s sweeping American slavery Western Django Unchained and Seth MacFarlane’s bro-mantic comedy Ted, followed by the critically acclaimed Silver Linings Playbook with six (6) nods and the epic blockbuster conclusion to the Batman trilogy The Dark Knight Rises with five (5).   Rounding out the most nominated films are The Avengers, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Pitch Perfect and Skyfall with four (4)each.   
In the nominees for Best Male Performance include Ben Affleck for Argo, Bradley Cooper for Silver Linings Playbook, Jamie Foxx for Django Unchained, Channing Tatum for Magic Mike and Daniel Day-Lewis for Lincoln while in the best female performance category Anne Hathaway for Les Misérables, Mila Kunis for TED, Jennifer Lawrence for Silver Linings Playbook, Emma Watson for The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Rebel Wilson for the movie Pitch Perfect, will battle for the award.
Watch Rebel Wilson, who is also billed to host the awards call out the nominations for the Movie of the Year Award alongside Josh Horowitz.

Voting for the MTV Movie Awards winners began on Tuesday 5 March on MTV Base Website and will run until Saturday 13th of April.    

Airing Wednesday 17 April (18:00 WAT), the 2013 MTV Movie Awards will take place at the Sony Pictures Studios Lot in Culver City, California. Serving as the official kick-off to the Summer Blockbuster season, the show will continue MTV’s tradition of irreverent celebration of the movies, actors and music that audiences love.

Brymo & Waje Recieve Tenstrings Mentor-Worthy Honorary Award
West Africa’s foremost Music institute and Foundation recently, as part of its mandate to inject professionalism into the sector, gave both Ashiru Olawale aka Brymo and Aituaje Iruobe aka Waje the prestigious Mentor Worthy Honorary Award in recognition of their artistic ingenuity and creativity in an industry experiencing the dearth of fresh ideas, depth, content and values.


Tenstrings music institute which is registered in Nigeria as a foundation with the mandate to promote music education and creativity amongst young people across the country, has been in operation for over six years and today has expanded rapidly, currently running six different study centers efficiently (Ikeja, Surulere, Lekki, Festac, Port Harcourt and Abuja). It has trained over 2000 persons in about five years.

Director and CEO of Tenstrings, Emmanuel Akapo, in his citation encourages both artistes to remain focused as the road to iconic status in the industry is full of distractions.

The annual event tagged, Star Mingle, is a platform that afford students the institution to hob knob in an atmosphere of camaraderie with some of the industry’s biggest names, once again gave impetus and ray of hope to the students as both stars relived their experiences and gave hints that has helped them on the rise to stardom.

Dakore Akande Set To Take On Nollywood Again
Dakore Egbuson left Nollywood and the Entertainment scene, she  got married, now Mrs. Dakore Akande is back with a bang! She&#39s working on a movie currently but the details are still sketchy.

She’s also a delectable singer as she was one of those who performed on Saturday, March 1, 2013 at the Iconic Nollywood event, Hosted by the Federal Government led by the president Goodluck Jonathan.
With a movie in the making and a revisit to her music days, Dakore Akande is definitely set for a comeback and the industry is ecstatic to have her, so also the fans.

RMD Denies N50 Million Scam
Nollywood actor and Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in the Delta State Government, Richard Mofe Damijo, has denied the reports that he is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over an alleged involvement in a N50 million embezzlement scam.

Despite the whole sage, RMD seems not to be perturbed as he is seen during the weekend hosting Iyanya’s album launch at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos which further solidify his noninvolvement.

In an article published by Encomium Magazine earlier in the week, RMD said he will not be responding to dailies that published the claims.

When it’s time, I will (respond). And I’m sure you know it’s not true‘, RMD said.
