OC Ukeje, Rita Dominic Nominated For The African Movie Academy Awards 2013
At a glittering ceremony hosted by Her Excellency President Joyce Banda in Lilongwe Malawi the nominees were announced to a crowd of African dignitaries and filmmakers from around the world.

Entries from America, Canada, France, Germany, Guadalupe, Italy, Jamaica, and the UK also got nominations.

AMAA received 328 entries from across Africa, up from 220 in 2011. These Sincluded 134 feature films, 88 short films, 57 documentaries and six animations. This year, the figures have increased, with a total of 671 films submitted for consideration.

Actor OC Ukeje is nominated in the Best Actor in a Leading Role category so as the late veteran, Justus Esiri for his movie, ‘Assasins Practice.’ Also Rita Dominic is in the Best Actress in a Leading Role category for her film, ‘The Meeting.’

Last Flight To Abuja and Awakening are nominated in AMAA 2013 Prize For Achievement In Visual Effects, Also, Patience Ozokwo for Turning Point Linda Ejiofor for The Meeting are both nominated in the category for Best Actress in a supporting role.

Alex Okosi, Cobhams Asuquo, Tara Fela-Durotoye, 4 Other Nigerians Named As World Global Leaders By World Economic Forum

The World Economic Forum honored 70 people from all over the world for their professional accomplishments and commitment to society including six Nigerians

The Young Global Leaders (YGL) Class of 2013 is made up of honourees representing all sectors of society. 50 percent was taken from business while the remaining 50 percent was shared around arts and culture, academia, civil society, government, media and non-profits; 42 percent are women.

The six Nigerians honoured by the forum include: Alex Okosi, Ndubuisi Ekekwe, Amy Jadesimi, Ola Orekunrin, Cobhams Asuquo and Tara Fela-Durotoye.

Cobhams Asuquo is the Founder and CEO of CAMP,a veteran producer and song writer.

Alex Okosi is the Senior Vice-President and Managing Director Viacom International Media Networks Africa (formerly MTV Networks Africa). Speaking on the award, Alex said “I am very proud to have been named by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader and look forward to working with my peers in the Forum of Young Global Leaders to ensure that African affairs, issues and ideas are key priorities for action on the global agenda.”

Tara Fela-Durotoye

Tara Fela-Durotoye is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer House of Tara, Ndubuisi Ekekwe founded the First Atlantic Semiconductors and Microelectronics, Amy Jadesimi is the Managing director of LADOL while Ola Orekunrin is the Founder The Flying Doctors.

Sound Sultan & 2Face Idibia To Launch TV Series
Nigerian legendary artistes 2Face & Sound Sultan are set to add producers to their CV as they prepare to debut their first TV series.

The TV series, a sit-com titled ‘Who Be Mumu’ is created and produced by the duo. According to Sound Sultan, ‘The series will tell stories of the lives of an average Nigerian youth. Most of it would be shot in Festac town.’

When probed if he will be featuring, Sound Sultan said, ‘I would probably make a guest appearance and so will 2face too… there will also be a lot of guest celebrity appearances.’
