Ese Oruru Delivers Baby Girl

Recall the case of 14-year-old Ese Oruru who was allegedly abducted from her parent’s home in Opolo, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa state, taken to Kano, converted to Islam and forced into marriage by one Yunusa Dahiru aka Yellow? Read here if you missed.

Upon her rescue, it was discovered that the teenager was five months pregnant and while her captor remained locked up following his inability to meet the N3 million bail conditions, Ese was kept under police protection at the Police Officers’ Mess in Yengoa.

On Thursday, 25th May, Ese gave birth to a baby girl at the Government House Clinic in Yenagoa after going into labour in the morning.

Confirming news of Ese’s delivery, her father Charles Oruru said his daughter was delivered of a bouncing baby girl about 10.15am on Thursday. According to him, she is in a good state after going through the stress the early morning labour stress.

“Ese and her daughter are hale and hearty. She gave birth to a baby girl at the Government House Clinic, Yenagoa. I just came back from the hospital,” he said.

Despite the conditions surrounding Ese’s pregnancy, the family is excited about the latest addition into their family.

“Yes, my daughter gave birth in the morning around a quarter past 10. The mother and the child are well. She gave birth to herself (a baby girl). We are very happy that she gave birth safely,” Charles said.

Ese’s abduction case is pending before a Federal High Court in Yenagoa, where her alleged kidnapper, Yunusa Dahiru, is facing five counts of alleged kidnapping, unlawful carnal knowledge and sexual exploitation of a minor.

Before her delivery, Ese was expected to evidence in secret when the hearing of the case will come up on June 2.
