The Nigerian Falcons has qualified for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup Round of 16, an achievement that hasnt happened for 20 years.
The Falcons have reached the knockout stages of the Women’s World Cup just once before now, a quarter-final appearance in the competition in the United States in 1999
The Falcons qualified as one of the best losers to the round of 16 after finishing third in Group A behind France and Norway but had to wait until the final Group F fixtures, to see if they would progress.
Nigeria has taken the last slot reserved for the best third-placed countries.
The other three are Brazil, China and Cameroon.
However, Thomas Dennerby’s ladies lost 1-0 under controversial circumstances to hosts France in their last Group A match.
They will now face Germany in the next round on June 22.
