Now, we are bringing you the full runway report from South African designer David Tlale who had his first solo showcase with his Fall 2014 collection at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York on the 9th of February 2014 held at the Lincoln Centre in New York. The shows kicked off on the 6th of February and goes on until the 13th February.
Tlale presented his autumn/winter 2014 collection called ‘Elementary Metropolis’ at MBFWNY, one of the fashion world’s most highly anticipated events.
The designer is no stranger to MBFWN, having showcased his designs three times previously at the prestigious event as part of a collection of South African designers.
Tlale said his first solo show was incredible and he feels like his career is just getting started. “For our first runway solo showcasing, it was phenomenal. I feel like we have just begun.”
He showcased a ready-to-wear collection with his distinctive style toned down for the American market. “We have done the frills, the feathers and now we are focusing on the business of fashion.”
Tlale’s next goal is getting his clothing into American stores.
Spotted on the runway for his show was Tanzanian-New York based model Millen Magese and Africa’s Next Top Model host OluchiOrlandi who closed the show.
