The biggest night for movies produced some knockout fashion on the red carpet of the 2015 Oscars, which took place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday (February 22).
OnoBello.com has complied some of our favourite dresses from stars in the likes of Lupita Nyong’o, Kerry Washington, Solange Knowles, Zoe Saldana, Jennifer Hudson, Jennifer Lopez, Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer.
Which is your favorite?
Lupita Nyong’o wore a custom eye-catching Calvin Klein Collection pearl and ivory beaded dress. The dress boosts of a unique keyhole halter front and strap detailing at the back. The dress is a beautiful version of pearlized embellishments.
As per usual, she accessorized this masterwork regally with complementary pendant earrings, soft metallic makeup and a crimson lip.
‘Scandal’ actress Kerry Washington opted for a Miu Miu embroidered peplum gown. The light champagne hue was lovely on her, with Fred Leighton floral strand earrings adding a much-needed punch to the more subtle look.
Solange Knowles stood out in a Christian Siriano Fall 2015 pants-style ensemble, completed by an overlaying turtleneck cape.
The design emphasizes an oversized, draped aesthetic that features a flood of fabric, but it’s the vibrant, coral-red hue that really caught my eye.
The voluminous, wavy locks Solange has been rocking of late echoed the more capacious lines of the look, whilst her bold lip was clearly selected in homage to its colour.
Zoe Saldana wore a stunning Atelier Versace gown with intricate graphic lines typical of the fashion house and a subtle rosy hue.
A dramatic diamond choker is the perfect accent to the look. Her glowy skin, lush lashes, shimmering lips and loose, textured updo are flawless.
‘Selma’ actress Carmen Ejogo channeled an old Hollywood glam vibe in her Houghton white, sparkling sequin gown. A Chopard choker added to the retro aesthetic of the look, as did her flapper-inspired pin curls and a saturated, magenta-red lip.
Jennifer Hudson looked lovely as she walked the red carpet in a strapless, butter yellow gown from the Romona Keveza Spring 2015 collection with Jimmy Choo ‘Minnie’ sandals.
The sleek lines of the gown and its half peplum and tiny accent belt are classic and chic, while the colour adds a splash of fun to the simple silhouette.
The bold emerald and diamond earrings and cocktail ring are a lovely contrasting colour, and offer the perfect stylistic dialogue with the gown.
Jennifer’s sleek hair, flawless skin and subtle makeup complete the look.
Jennifer Lopez floated on red carpet in Elie Saab Fall 2014 Couture. She appeared as a luminous tulle-covered dream. Layers of romantic nude-hued tulle were speckled with monochromatic beading from the deep cut neckline, dripping all the way past the waistline, which was outfitted in the chicest and most slim belt.
Jennifer completed her red carpet style with a matching clutch by Salvatore Ferragamo and simple diamond drop earrings. Her high ponytail added a playful element to her high-drama dress and the light pink pout added to the feminine feel.
Viola Davis looked radiant on the red carpet in Zac Posen Resort 2015. The actress was stunning in a pearl-hued gown fit for a star, and she looked just the part. A glamorous ballgown silhouette with darting details and cascading layers of fabric looked so regal. The off-the-shoulder neckline was matched perfectly with her Van Cleef & Arpels ‘Valadon’ choker dripping of pearls.
Viola finished her look with a silvery clutch and a deep berry lip.
Octavia Spencer wore her favoured designer, Tadashi Shoji, for the evening’s festivities.
She style the off-the-shoulder, draped and embellished design simply and beautifully with diamond-encrusted earrings, a tonal Judith Leiber clutch and a sleek updo.
