A section of the Ogbeogonogo market in Asaba, Delta state capital was gutted by fire in the early hours of Tuesday May 26.
Several properties worth millions of Naira were said to have been destroyed in the inferno. The cause of the fire is yet unknown.
According to online reports, Ogbeogonogo Market is the biggest street market in Asaba, located in the heart of the town, close to the banks of the River Niger. The market has over one thousand traders and attracts large crowds of daily customers.
The market recently underwent reconstruction and is now referred to as the “Asaba Modern Market”. See more photos and a video from the scene below.
