Brazillian legend Pele will be released from hospital today after undergoing prostate surgery.
Surgeons operated on the 74-year-old on Tuesday after it was discovered he was suffering with an enlarged prostate.
According to the mirror.co.uk, a statement by the Sao Paolo hospital also confirmed no tumours were found during the operation.
Pele’s friend and advisor Jose Fornos Rodrigues said: “Everything is going well with Pele; he is resting.
“It was a very simple procedure. He will be released within a couple of days.”
This is the second time Pele has been admitted to the same hospital in the last six months.
He underwent two weeks of treatment for a urinary infection in November 2014 after having kidney stones removed.
The three-time World Cup winner scored 1,280 goals during his career and is considered by many to be the greatest footballer of all time.
