Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour Denies Kim Kardashian & Kanye West Begged For American Vogue Cover
It is safe to assume that it was all joy for Kim Kardashian when her dream of being on the cover of American Vogue finally came to pass, as she bagged her first cover of the prestigious magazine, with the publication hailing her and her partner as the world's most talked about couple and she would not have expected the torrent of backlash and negative reactions which the magazine’s Editor-In-Chief, Anna Wintour immediately received, forcing her to have to issue a statement to defend her choice, especially denying that Kanye courted her to bag his fiancée the highly-coveted cover, a bid which he had earlier publicly campaigned for.
Anna, the 64-year-old editor-in-chief said in an open letter – in retaliation to gossip they spent a long time persuading her for coverage – the reality star and musician had a quality that many stars can’t champion, no matter how famous.
“You may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancée on Vogue's cover. He did nothing of the sort. The gossip might make better reading, but the simple fact of the matter is that it isn't true,” she shared.
“There’s barely a strand of the modern media that the Kardashian Wests haven’t been able to master, and for good reason,” she went on. “Kanye is an amazing performer and cultural provocateur, while Kim, through her strength of character, has created a place for herself in the glare of the world’s spotlight, and it takes real guts to do that.”
Anna added that Kim and Kanye have created a certain buzz in the media and asked readers to see things from her side.

“Part of the pleasure of editing Vogue, one that lies in a long tradition of this magazine, is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it,” she continued.
Anna’s statement has however not appeased fans, as social media has been abuzz with strong criticisms and anger in the wake of the publication’s announcement, with spoof versions and parodies of the cover hitting the internet.
Notwithstanding the controversy however, the magazine features some great shots of the couple and their daughter, shot by renowned fashion photographer Annie Leibovitz. In a nod to their upcoming wedding, Kim wears a bridal-esque, off-white strapless gown while Kanye, 36, is seen standing behind her with his arms around her waist, nuzzling into her neck.
