This will be one of the most star-studded parties of the year and as you can see from the photos here no expense has been spared.
Agbani Darego has gone all-out for her 30th birthday exclusive party which took place last Sunday the 6th of January 2013 at the high brow Wheat Baker hotel in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Agbani, a true ambassador for Nigeria was first shot into limelight in 2001 when she won the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) pageant, which lead on to winning the most coveted beauty crown ever, Miss World, in November 2001, a title that is still a first for the first native Sub-Saharan African to claim.
The lavish and stylish birthday bash kicked off at 7pm with a roll call of the crème de la crème in Nigerian Government, Business, Fashion and Entertainment as well as close family and friends who were present to express their good wishes to the celebrant.
For the cocktail, the celebrant wore a black one-shoulder dress with sheer cut out detail from Stella McCartney. The dress channels Agbani’s sultry side and the details are sleek yet striking. The timeless black dress has nude panels at the waist, shoulder, and back with side zipper with hook-and-eye closure. What a chic choice and right for the start of the party.
Notable guests included Daisy Danjuma, Nike Oshinowo-Soleye, Ruth Osime, Ben Murray-Bruce, Nkiru Anumudu April Abanulor, Lanre DaSilva Ajayi, Chalya Shagaya, ChiDynma, Bola Balogun, Dr. Sid, Funmi Victor-Okigbo, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Franca Chiedu, Don Jazzy, Kelechi Amadi Obi, Ojy Okpe, Stephanie Okereke, Tiwa Savage, Annie Idibia, Ezinne Chinkata, Dimeji Alara, Funke Kuku, Jumai Shaba, Toke Ibru, MI, Bez, Basketmouth and Folake Coker.
Then at around 9pm guests were ushered in from the cocktail reception into a private room for dinner.
For dinner, Agbani slipped into an emerald stretch-crepe, short draped sleeves Roland Mouret Wemmick dress with gather high neck detailing, pleating at front, hook-fastening slit and split at back and an exposed zip fastening through back.
The theme for the room was modern with bespoke floral arrangements, exquisitely done by ‘Newton and David’, the room offered subtle tones to make guests feel welcome. Each guest was then asked to write personal goodwill messages on cards and hang on the tree branch sidepiece flower arrangement in the room.
Guests were then sitted to a three course dinner during which Bola Balogun, producer of TV program Glam Report, Chalya Shagaya, Fashion Stylist, Ben Murray-Bruce, CEO Silverbird Group and organizer of MBGN pageants and Oju Okpe, supermodel all gave heart felt speeches which then lead on to a toast to the birthday girl.
Cutting of the cake
Dinner later moved on to the cutting the three-tier cake specially done by ‘Cakes by Tosan’ to mark the milestone birthday.
The beautiful party was carefully planned out and executed by Funmi Victor-Okigbo’s ‘No Surprises’ events company in collaboration with Agbani’s friend and agent Bola Balogun and Publicist for the birthday party Ijeoma Ndekwu of Redrick PR.
