Hubert de Givenchy, iconic French designer, passed away on Saturday, March 10, at the age of 91. His longtime partner Philipe Venet confirmed the news in a statement to AFP on Sunday.
The French designer founded his namesake fashion house, Givenchy, in 1952. With a penchant for classic, elegant pieces, Givenchy was most famous for dressing style icons like Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy. He also is credited with inventing the shirt dress. His relationship with Hepburn spanned over 40 years and was instrumental in solidifying the actress as one of Hollywood’s best dressed women of all time.
