We are always excited every time we stumble across a new collection or designer, and every day we get sent loads of lookbooks to review and publish here.
Nigerian designers are very innovative and are beginning to think outside the box and that’s what this Nigerian emerging designer Kitchai is doing. We however have to point out that creativity does not always translate to every day fashion, but we always love to see the creativity in the collections and lookbooks. This lookbook tagged “Unicorns And Bullet Wounds’ is the first costume design collection by London born and bred creative director, Andrea Ushedo.
Kitschai was established early in 2013 and debuted with the release of the dark and edgy fashion film entitled “The Initiation”. The collection takes inspiration from the West African Safari; animal print and textures, PVC, dip-dye patterns and more, make up this thrilling collection. In an effort to maintain an authentic feel, the printed fabrics used were hand dyed in Mali and Guinea. The collection also represents freedom, strength and wildlife, the garments are abstract and aim to entice. With multiple silhouettes that enhance and compliment the body of a woman, Unicorns And Bullet Wounds is a touch of peculiar beauty.
What do you think of the collection? Since the designer tagged it a costume collection I am thinking it is best for a costume party? Which of the pieces will you rock!
