When A- List actors and actresses such as Genevieve Nnaji, Ramsey Nouah, Ini Edo, Monalisa Chinda, Uti Nwachukwu, Bryan Okwara, Alex Ekubo, Beverly Naya, Uru Eke, Bobby Obodo, Ime 'Bishop'Umoh and Ini Ikpe come together to star in a single movie, it will no doubt be glamorous and a delight to cinema and movie watchers.
Produced by Emem Isong and directed by Desmond Elliot off the stables of Royal Arts Academy, Weekend Getaway is a tale of sorts, comprising of comedy, romance, drama and a little bit of action all interwoven into one. There is the rich but bored bachelor who looks to hook up someone he has been chatting with online. There is the woman who brings along her boyfriend on a business meeting, the executive who is on assignment with his very appealing assistant who is in love with him, and a young newly wed couple who are trying to add some spice to their marriage. Their lives are however intertwined as the varying plot lines meet and touch on each other before resulting into the underwhelming climax.
The sets were beautiful, Le Meridien Ibom Hotel & Golf resort in Akwa Ibom made sure of that, the costume were gorgeous, the makeup of the cast was very okay although they acted too rigid at times like they were being forced to come together to make the movie.
Overall, with the experience and roles these A-List actors and actresses have had in the past, you would definitely have expected more from them.
The movie ended up being an average one, it is worth the watch but it could have been better.
