Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke recently lost a lawsuit against Marvin Gaye’s family over there hit track “Blurred Lines”. The two were ordered to cough up $7.3 million to the Gaye estate, and Pharrell has finally come out to speak on the loss.
Here’s what Pharrell said:
“The verdict hampers any creator out there who who is making something that might be inspired by something else,” and not just in music: “This applies to fashion, music, design… anything. If we lose our freedom to be inspired, we’re going to look up one day and the entertainment industry as we know it will be frozen in litigation.””
