‘Herdsmen’ Attack Danjuma’s LGA, Kill Five

Suspected herdsmen have attacked Mbiya village in Takum local government area of Taraba state where Theophilus Danjuma, former minister of Defence, comes from.

The attackers killed five members of a family and also struck in a community where Danjuma’s farmland is.

The attackers reportedly burnt alive Sunday Sabo, head of the family.

Danjuma had recently called on Nigerians to defend themselves against killers saying the military has taken sides in the killings.

Witnesses say that over 20 suspected herdsmen stormed the village on Wednesday and lunched the attack.

David Misal, police public relations officer (PPRO) in the state, confirmed the attack but did not give details.

Shiban Tikare, chairman of the local government, also confirmed the killings, saying the family were “slaughtered like children”.

“By the time we got there, the family of five, a man, his wife and children were slaughtered like chickens,” he said.

Also, Darius Ishaku, governor of the state, speaking through Bala Dan-Abu, his senior special assistant on media and publicity, said the attack is the “latest in the wave of herdsmen killing of innocent people in the state”.
