Ice Prince Zamani Scoops Best African Act At BET Awards 2013

The BET Awards 2013 held at the Staple Centre, Los Angeles, USA on June 29th, 2013 with great performances by Singer Miguel, T.I., Robin Thicke, Justin Timberlake, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Jamie Foxx, Kirk Franklin, Pharrell Williams, Tamela Mann, 2 Chainz, amongst others.


Nigerian Ice Prince Zamani defeated 2Face Idibia, Toya Delazy from South Africa, Donald from South Africa,  R2Bees from Ghana and Radio and Weasel from Uganda to win the 2013 Best African Act.

Ice Prince was also nominated last year but lost the award to Wizkid. He later said in an interview that although he felt bad about losing the award and for a split second wished it was him, he was happy for Wizkid, guess his goodwill has finally paid off in this year’s edition.

Since its inception in 2001, the BET Awards has cemented itself as a can’t-miss event. The inaugural BET Experience saw action from Beyoncé, The Roots, Snoop Lion, Kendrick Lamar, Erykah Badu and more.

Other winners at the awards include Drake for Video of the Year award, Chris Brown for FANdemonium Award, Rihanna – Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Miguel – Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Miguel – Best Male Hip Hop Artist while Nikki Minaj took Best Female Hip Hop Artist.
