Tayo Elesin, the British Nigerian super star who has starred in widely acclaimed television soaps such as Law and Order UK, Holby City [BBC], Doctors [BBC] and many others will be in Nigeria for the critically acclaimed Africa Movie Academy Awards(AMAA) holding in Bayelsa this weekend alongside another renowned British actress, Angela Dixon (Dead End with Wil Johnson; Daementia). Tayo who lives between London, UK and New York depending on where she has work studied law and has staggering LLB, LLM, MSC to her name as well as an acting career! She is one of the very few black young people making strong incursion into Hollywood, European TV and film scenes.

Her other works include: Casualty [BBC], Acting Raw [USA/Germany], Alison Jackson , 'The Kings Speech' which is set to be released later this year].  25, beautiful, charming and with a high level of charisma, Tayo has done several stage plays as well, She has also done various voice over work for the UK and US. Nigerian Entertainment Today’s Website Gets Hacked! Publisher Releases Statement
Yesterday, the primary domain of Nigerian Entertainment Today – www.thenetng.com was compromised by internet hackers, who criminally gained access to the servers and illegally took possession of the magazine’s identity.

The hackers immediately followed up with an email demanding for $1,200 to release the administration of the site but after negotiation through emails, they reduced their demand to $900.

NET has however resolved not to give in to the demand, Ayeni Adekunle, the publisher has this to say:
“After careful considerations, we decided yesterday, that we will not be negotiating with the hijackers, that we will not bow to these cheap internet terrorists. And we will definitely not be paying the requested ransom money ($900 as at their last email).

“We decided instead, to work with our registrar, our in-house IT team, and consultants to legitimately reclaim our domain, while setting up a new destination – www.thenetng.net as our home until this is resolved. We are aware this may take some time, but it is a sacrifice we are willing to make.”

He further talked about the forth coming 3rd NET anniversary and those who are willing to register for the upcoming Nigerian Entertainment Conference holding on Friday April 26, to email their details to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Kennis Music Artiste Jaywon Escapes Car Accident Unscarred  
Kennis Music signee Jaywon has survived what would have been a fatal car accident as the car involved was left in total wreck.

Jaywon was returning from the video shoot of his single “Catch Me If You Can” featuring Phenom and Ice Prince when the accident happened, luckily, the “This Year” singer escaped without any major injury.

He even tweeted about it through his twitter account displaying a picture of the wrecked car and thanking God.

More Nigerian entertainment celebrities are taking on the new trend of reality show and next to join the list is Nigeria's foremost and choreographer, Kaffy and Africa's number 1 DJ Jimmy Jatt.

There’s no slowing down for the Africa’s number one disc jockey as  he preps for the launch of his new reality TV show and movie project.

The revered itinerant DJ told NET his new projects are ‘good to go’ and will be launched once sponsorship and other details are concluded.

‘I always like to do things the proper way, so I have been trying to put everything in place and of course trying to get the right sponsors too has been a challenge’ he said.

Jimmy also revealed that the reality TV show will be targeted at upcoming  DJs, to teach them the basics of the
Act.

In similar scoop, Nigeria’s most celebrated dancer Kaffy is also set to launch her own reality TV show targeted at grooming dancers.

The show will display a number of dance talents from different parts of the country with the aim of bringing them into the limelight.

The details of the said reality show are still sketchy however. Kaffy is known for pioneering a lot of "first" in the industry.are still sketchyNo details yet, but pundits say the move is not surprising, seeing the gifted dancer is known for many firsts in her industry.

AMBO 2005 Winner Azeezat Sadiq Goes Into Music

Winner of the maiden edition of Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO), Azeezat Sadiq has put on hold her acting, to concentrate on her music career.

 The petite actress just wrapped up a course in music production from a UK University and has adopted "Zeeza" as her stage name.

Azeezat is presently putting efforts together to establish herself in the music industry haven released three singles earlier.

Azeezat started her acting career in 2001, featuring in movies like ‘Discharge’ and ‘Living Dangerously’ before winning the AMBO in 2005

April is here, and that means April Fool’s Day and the One Mic Naija live music showcase for this month!

D’banj And Manager Seun Bankuli Part Ways
Reports have it that D’banj has parted ways with manager Seun Bankuli after he found out he was working on Kanye West’s album.

D'banj and Seun got into an argument when it got to his attention that Seun had gone to Paris following the Koko Concert to work on Kanye West’s next album without him knowing.

Bankuli left for Paris after the Koko concert in December to drop adlibs on Kanye’s next LP.

Bankuli also hooked up with G.O.O.D Music producer Travis Scott who was signed to Kanye West’s imprint last November. When D’Banj found out, an argument ensued which resulted in both parties going their separate ways.

Bankuli is also a vocalist and sound creator apart from being an A&R, artiste manager and developer. His vocals can be heard on ‘Lift Off’ featuring Beyonce off the ‘Watch The Throne’ album, and he was credited for his vocal contribution on the track co-produced by Don Jazzy.

He also got additional vocals credit on ‘Illest Mothafucka Alive’ featured on the same album.

Fire razes M-Net and SuperSport studios in Ojota

The structure which houses DStv Channels, M-Net and SuperSport studios in Ojota, Lagos has been razed by fire.

Witnesses say the fire began at the M-Net studio used for entertainment programmes like Naija Sings, Studio 53, Jara, as well as popular soap Tinsel.

MultiChoice has released an official statement on Sunday on the fire outbreak. The statement read thus:
It has been confirmed that a fire broke out yesterday afternoon (Saturday March 2, 2013) at the Ojoto Studios facility, which is home to both M-Net and SuperSport productions in Nigeria.

At this time, the fire is under control and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blaze. Whilst the fire appears to have caused significant damage to the facility, which may result in some screening delays for programs recorded on site, M-Net and SuperSport are already hard at work with a view to resuming production as soon as possible in order to minimize any impact on viewing audiences at home.

Further M-Net, SuperSport and MultiChoice are deeply thankful and grateful that no-one was injured during this unfortunate incident.

Finally, M-Net has confirmed that the fire will not affect its plans for next weekend when it hosts its inaugural AfricaMagic Viewers’ Choice Awards, in association with MultiChoice, which is to be screened live from Lagos to over 50 countries on the African continent.

More information on this matter will be communicated as it becomes available. Members of the public are thanked for their concern and messages of support already received. At this time, the site has been closed and will remain this way until further notice.

15th Annual Kennis Music Easter Fiesta Cancelled

The sudden demise of singer Goldie Harvey was a shock to the entire nation but her label Kennis Music was among those directly at the receiving end.

As a result, The 15th Annual Kennis Music Fiesta has been cancelled. Goldie Harvey was an artiste under the label till she passed on.

The press release from the management reads:

15th Annual Kennis Music Easter Fiesta

Due to the loss of our dear Oluwabimpe Goldie Harvey, The Management has decided not to celebrate this year’s event.

The festival is hereby cancelled for 2013.
However, you can join us for a Thanksgiving service/Tribute Concert to be held at a later date.

Denrele Edun's Family House Robbed At Gun Point

Channel O VJ Denrele Edun took to twitter on Saturday night after his family house where he was with his father, grandma and sister was robbed by five armed robbers.

According to his tweet, the armed robbers carted away "everything" but no life was lost.

He said they threatened to shoot him in the eyes and even tried to strangle his 86-year-old grandma. It was the quick insight of his sister that saved the iPad with which he later tweeted the incident.

Denrele said he just returned from Goldie's candlelight procession and went to see his family when the incident happened.

Kennis Music boss Kenny Ogungbe has added two promising upcoming artistes to his record label. However, the two acts are foreign based artistes who have proven themselves worthy in the world of entertainment. The two acts Hassain Abdullah Karim popularly known as H.A.K and Howard B were signed some few weeks ago.
