The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has ruled out any fresh governorship election in Bayelsa State request from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to Punch Newspapers, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi dismissed the APC’s demand for a fresh poll citing that the commission concluded its work on the Bayelsa State governorship poll on Friday.
Remember that PDP and APC clashed on Sunday due to the latter’s call for a fresh poll after when the APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole had said the swearing-in of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Douye Diri, as the state governor was unconstitutional as he did not meet the mandatory constitutional requirements.
Media reports think there’s a chance that APC will be heading towards the Supreme Court to seek a review of the judgment annulling the victory of David Lyon, the former governor-elect. Stay tuned for more developing reports.
