Joan Rivers is slowly being brought out of a coma.
The 81-year-old is gradually being brought round after spending the weekend on life support.
Once the process is complete, doctors will assess the severity of the brain damage and have expressed their concern at the possibility she will be left in a wheelchair or a vegetative state for the rest of her life.
While her family keep a vigil at her hospital bedside in New York, they’re reportedly considering suing the clinic who performed the initial throat surgery.

“The night before, she was performing and now she is on life support. An 81-year-old should not have that procedure as an outpatient. Very ill-advised,” a source told New York Daily News.
Her daughter Melissa is keeping her “fingers crossed” as was revealed in a statement released on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Rihanna is leading well wishes to the American legend.
“Please keep Joan Rivers in your prayers,” she tweeted earlier today.
