It was a clash between familiar faces as England and Chelsea legends, John Terry and Frank Lampard went head-to-head against each other in a close encounter in the footballing game, however, this time as managerial oppositions.
John Terry’s side Aston Villa were the better side for much of the game as they dominated the game right from kick off, taking the lead on the stroke of half-time through man of the match El Ghazi, before a mistake from Derby’s goal keeper Kelle Roos gave them a second goal after the break.
Aston Villa’s Super-sub, Jack Marriott’s third goal in two games made things interesting late on, but it was Dean Smith’s men who held on to win the most lucrative game in football.
The result helped the Villa boys gain promotion back into top-flight football, avenging last season’s Play-Off painful Final defeat to Fulham, and denying Derby coach Frank Lampard the dream of ending his first season as a manager in grand style.
