Keke Palmer’s first performance as Cinderella on Tuesday night 9th September 2014 on Broadway was both awesome and way overdue.

The 21-year-old BET host took to the stage with Sherri Shepherd, who also made history.

KeKe had previously shared her thoughts when she first announced the role, she said:

“Young black girls that think that certain things aren’t possible, it’s good for them to just be able to see someone that looks like them and lets them know it’s possible, but it also lets them know that just because you have never seen it, doesn’t mean that you can’t be it.

Before her opening night, she shared on Instagram:

thank you to all my loved ones for my flowers, texts and emails of support! My dressing room is beautiful because of YOU! I had such an overwhelmingly thrilling debut night. Broadway .. Wow. God is so good, I am so grateful to the The Lord for using me in such a way that I can freely express his love through my passion. Tonight, my career, my LIFE, is a testament to the power of love; of God’s light! When you embrace him and who you are, when you spread love and kindness, when you stay consistent in your sincerity .. There’s NOTHING you can not do. Nothing is easy, it will be difficult. But understand you are not alone, we are all together. thankful to all of those that made it to the show tonight and I love all of those that were praying for me where they were.
