The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has announced that the Federal Government will not step down its bid to regulate social media in the country, the Nation reports.
Lai Mohammed who disclosed this weeks after he denied the existence of a bill for the regulation made this known on Thursday at a press conference in Abuja, where he stated that they are planning a major international conference that will bring together the tech companies, media practitioners, policymakers, and others as part of efforts to tackle this growing canker-worm.
The Minister also noted that the move was to ensure that they curb any form of fake news that could tarnish the image of the country.
