Lecturers From Osun State Protest 16 Months of Unpaid Salaries

According to reports, lecturers at the four tertiary institutions owned by the Osun State Government on Thursday, gave strike notice to the various managements over unpaid salaries amidst other issues.

The lecturers also demanded the state government reinstate sacked workers in the schools, employ more lecturers and repay all outstanding contributory pension deductions and cooperative deductions.

The Chairman, Osun State College of Education Academic Staff Union, Ilesa, Mr Olusegun Lana, who led the protest march on the college premises said the state government had refused to fulfill its part of the agreement reached with lecturers.

He added that the Osun State College of Education, Ila Orangun, would start its strike action on August 7, adding that the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, would commence its strike action on August 8, while the Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke, would start on August 15.
