Lekki Gardens Building Collapse: Police Detain MD, To Be Prosecuted Soon

The Managing Director of Lekki Gardens, Mr. Richard Nyong, has been detained by the police following the collapse of a 5-storey building that was still under construction in Lekki Horizon 1.

According to the Lagos State police command spokesman, Mr. Dolapo Badmus, the CEO of the residential property development company is being detained at the Panti Police Station and will be charged to court as soon as investigation into the incident is completed.

One of the contractors handling the job, Ododfin Taiwo was earlier arrested on Wednesday.

It was gathered that 34-year-old Nyong arrived the police station in the company of his lawyer, Mr. Wole Olanipekun.

His arrest comes on the heels of Governor Ambode’s directive that all directors of the company to surrender to the Lagos State police commissioner within 24 hours when it was discovered that the company illegally added two additional floors to the building in defiance to approved plan by regulators, which led to the sealing of the site.
